Her father, Francis Sudler attended the University of Alabama in 1977, and later proceeded to obtain his medical degree from Tulane University. While Pettus Dey was a homemaker. Patricia had a remarkable childhood. According to her, she enjoyed swimming, riding bicycles and going for horseback riding.

Patricia got married to her first husband in 1962, Lon Smith. They both lived in McLean, Virginia. In 1968, they welcomed their son, Whitney Sudler Smith. Unfortunately in 1979, Lon Smith and Patricia got divorced. Patricia doesn’t say much about her first husband other than, “he was very private and a loving husband”.

Altschul found love again after the divorce from her first husband. In 1989 she got married to Edward Stitt, a medical Doctor and businessperson. The marriage lasted for 6 years, in 1995 the couple had a divorce. Dr Fleming was the mastermind of Psychiatric Institute of Washington. Dr Edward Fleming passed in 1997.
Patricia Altschul Marriage To Arthur Goodhart Altschul
Patricia, still full of life and love remarried again. She got married to Arthur Goodhart Altschul, a year after Fleming’s death. Goodhart was a philanthropist, Art collector and an investment banker of Goldhart, Sachs and Company. Goodhart and Patricia Altschul had a great time together as they were also renowned as party-goers. Unfortunately, Goodhart passed in 2002. He passed as a result of declining health at age 81.

A year after Goldhart and Patricia got married, they bought Southerly from Ambassador and Mrs Hushang and Maryam Ansary. Southerly is described as a long estate with about 15 rooms, it has a great overlook where one can easily see the Oyster Bay. The estate was redecorated by Mario Buatta.
Patricia Altschul told New York Times about the magical and sensational view of the estate, and she went further to emphasize on how each room has a clear view of the water from their rooms. The death of Goodhart made Patricia put up the estate for sale so she could move back to the South to continue with life.

Regardless, she got married to Edward Fleming and the philanthropist, Arthur Altschul. She always said in her memoir, that she had four engagement rings in the past.
