Miles Aiken is a former American professional basketball player, coach, and basketball and American football broadcaster. He was born on December 27th, 1941, in New York City, USA, he is 79 years old.

Aiken grew up in Upper Manhattan, Harlem, New York City. He started playing basketball in the playground around the neighborhood. He is 6.6 ft tall and weighs 95 kg.

He started playing as a center in the college in the 60s but played as a power forward professionally. He played in Europe (Spain and Italy).

After he stopped playing, he became the British national team coach in 1975 and he coached the British Olympic basketball team to the Olympics in 1976.

When he retired from coaching, he moved into sports commentary where he hosted and broadcasted many basketball games on British television.

Aside, playing, coaching, and commentary in the game of football, Aiken is also an author.

Philip Linton and Aiken co-authored the channel 4 Basketball Guide in 1983, as well as another book with Peter Rowe on the history and development of football starting from high school, college, and national, covering Europe, the USA, and Canada.

Aiken played college basketball for St. Bonaventure University, A private Franciscan University in Allegany, New York established in 1858.

With the St. Bonaventure basketball team, he averaged 20 points per game as a freshman in the 1960/1961 season.

In his second year in college for the Bonnies, his average went up to 23.6 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game.

December 16, 1961, was a record-breaking day; he scored 58 points in just two games breaking the record set by Elgin Baylor. In his year as a freshman and sophomore, Aiken averaged 23.0 points per game. He maintained this 23.0 average per game in his first ten games the next year with 14 rebounds.

His career was put to a halt when he sustained a knee inquiry in a game against Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. After his surgery, he was sidelined for most of the season.

He was named the weekly major college All-East Basketball Team by the East College Athletic Conference (ECAC) in 1962.

1964 wasn’t a good year for him. The hope of playing in the NBA was killed; he was not drafted mostly because of his injured leg so he moved to Europe to ply his basketball trade.

Aiken started professionally with the Aguilas Escolapios Schuss de Bilbao in Spain from 1965-1966. In his first season, he was the top scorer in the Primera Division.

The following season he moved to the Newcastle Eagles where he averaged 23.9 points per game in the national league.

1967 to 1968 were memorable years for Aiken; after joining the Real Madrid basketball team from Newcastle Eagles, he went on to lead the Madrids to back EuroLeague titles. During a semi-final game against Olimpija in 1967, he scored 31 out of 88 points scored by his team. His team went on to win the game 88/86.

In the final that same year against Simmenthal Milano, he alone scored 23 points which went a long way in helping his team win the match.

The following year was no different as he maintained his scoring records. He scored 31 points out of 98 points scored by his team in a match against Spartak Brno, his team went on to win the match 98/95.

In 1969, the Madrids played the European cup final against CSKA Moscow; this time luck ran out on them but Aiken helped Madrid to score 24 points.

After three good seasons in Spain, Aiken moved to Italy where he joined Partenope Napoli, Italy that summer in 1970. In his first season with them, Aiken led his team to Saporta Cup where they beat JDA Dijon Basket to lift the trophy.
