He started playing basketball in his high school: Stoneridge Prep High School, Simi Valley, California, and Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita, California before moving to Minnesota in 2010 for his college degree. In 2015, he was drafted as 1 pick 3rd overall and was selected by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. He is popularly known with his number 13 shirt.

Ahanmisi started his basketball career with his Stoneridge Prep in Simi Valley, California. He averaged 20 points per game with them before leaving after only one year to Gold Valley High School where he graduated in 2009. During his playing time at Gold Valley High, he made an average of 20.2 points per game and finished high school as Gold Valley’s all-time highest scorer and three points shooter.

Also, while in high school, he played for the Amateur Athletic Union before signing with a letter of intent to play college basketball with the University of Minnesota in 2010.

In the University of Minnesota, he played from 2010-2014 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I mostly from the bench where he averaged just 2.8 points per game and 1 rebound. With them, he won the National Invitational Tournament title in 2014.

In his collegiate debut as a freshman against Wofford Terriers on November 12, 2010, he played just for seven minutes. His average time was 3.3 minutes per game during the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

His first Collegiate points were against North Dakota State on November 24, 2010, and made his first start against Virginia on November 29, 2010.

After College, Ahanmisi moved to the Philippines when Cafe France Baker of the Philippines Basketball Association Developmental League came calling. In his debut game with them, he made an impressive start, scoring 10 points in an 18-0 run in the first quarter, they went on to win his debut game.

The next year, he led his team in the 2015 Philippines Basketball Association Developmental League Foundation Cup eliminations where he scored 13.9 points per game with 6.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists for each outing. That year, Cafe France won their first-ever Philippines Basketball Association Developmental League Championship, thanks to Ahanmisi’s outstanding contributions to the team.

On August 10, 2015, Ahanmis was drafted by the Philippines Basketball Association as a 3rd overall pick by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. He signed a two-year deal with them. In a game against Mahindra Enforcer on October 25, the same year, he had an outstanding performance, where he scored 11 points in just the fourth quarter.

Ahanmini moved to Alaska Aces as the first-round pick on August 16, 2019, after he was traded for Exciminiano. He is still with the Alaska Aces.

Maverick is the oldest of the three children and Mylene the only girl and the youngest of the three.

Just like his older brother, Jerrick is also a basketball player and he is currently playing with Adamson Soaring Falcons. The Adamson Soaring Falcon is the collegiate men varsity team of the University that Jerrick attends; they play in the UAA of the Philippines.
