Deontay Wilder Bio: Age, Birthdate, Birthplace, Body Measurements

Deontay was born to parents Gary and Deborah Wilder on 22nd October 1985 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His father was a religious preacher and the professional boxer grew up in a much disciplined environment alongside younger brother, Marsellos Wilder.

During his school-life, Deontay’s ambition was to become a professional footballer or basketball player. His high school education was completed from the Tuscaloosa Central High School in Alabama. An early marriage brought a stop to his education and family responsibilities forced him to give up his aspirations and take up boxing as a career soon after.

With a towering height of 6 feet 7 inches (2.01 metres) and a body weight of 101.15kgs, it was not very difficult for the well-built boxer to secure his place in heavyweight boxing. Deontay’s career took a steep turn when he defeated the champion Kelvin Price to emerge victorious at the World Heavyweight Championship. The longest-reigning heavyweight champion in WBC history, Deontay has a knockout-to-win ratio of 98% which speaks for his position as world’s second-best active heavyweight boxer.

Who is Deontay Wilder’s ex-wife Jessica Scales-Wilder?

The ruthless boxer is a tough man to beat on the outside, but an equally mild-hearted person on the inside. He has two sons and two daughters from his marriage with Jessica Scales, his first wife. The couple got married in 2009 and had their first child when Deontay was only 19. His four children with Jessica are named Ava, Deontay Jr, Dereon, and Naieya. Their marriage lasted for a period of eight years.

The heavyweight champion is a devoted father and his children have been an important part of his life. Incidentally, the doting father took up a career in boxing as a desperate measure to secure treatment for his eldest daughter Naieya, who was born with a serious deformity of the backbone, a birth condition known as spina bifida.

Deontay’s marriage ended in 2017 when he got involved with girlfriend Telli Swift of the ‘WAGS Atlanta’ fame. The two eventually got engaged in 2018 following the boxer’s divorce with Jessica. While Telli had a son, Kerron, from an earlier marriage, the couple also had a daughter together in March 2018.

Besides being responsible parents, the couple have also been known to extend their support to disadvantaged kids through various charitable organizations.
