Born in Atlanta, Georgia to Mary Nell Santacroce and Ivey Hugh, Miss Robins always knew she wanted to be an actress, and as determined as she was she enrolled in an acting school at the age of six. Later she majored in theatre at Rollins College in Florida her hard work then paid off and she got a grant to study drama in England at the London Academy of music and art.

Miss Robins proved herself on stages and occasions and also got critical acclaim from different judges and mentors in England. It was not merely participation which she did but she also won many honors and awards in the early years of her life when she was nothing but a student of drama and art. Some of her early life achievements were; The Drama Desk Award, Tony nomination, and an Outer Critics award.

Her life shows that her passion for acting has always been there inside of her and from the age of six she wanted to be nothing but an actress.

Dana Robins initiated her career as a television and stage drama actress in 1985 with her film “The Colour Purple”. The film marked her debut as an actress. However, her acting career had already begun in the late 1970s and she acted in numerous stage dramas which were mostly American productions or Canadian productions. Her first Broadway appearance, where she played two minor roles in the ‘Macbeth’ from where her actual magnificent journey of acting began.

In 1984 she was nominated for two Tony Awards: best actress for George Bernard Shaw’s “Heartbreak House’ and again as best actress for “Sunday In The Park With George”. This proved to be a great success for her as there were three total nominees of this extremely lavish award, the other two named Amanda Plummer and Kate Burton.

Her successes and achievements then started to pile up. She was also rewarded with an Obie award for her movie Driving Miss Daisy. In 1978 her work as a television actress also officially began. Her television plays include a lead role in the sitcom Easy street opposite Loni Anderson and also a guest appearance on “Homicide: Life On The Street”, “Law and Order”, “Frasier”, “The practice”, “Sex and the City”, “Oz”, “Ugly Betty”, “Broadwalk Empire” and “Monk in the episode ‘Mr. Monk and the other detective’. And from there she rose to the height of glory and became one of America’s most prominent actresses. Her work and performances prove that she was worthy of every award she was honored with.
