Born on July 28, 1982 in Salinas, California, United States, Cain Velasquez is an American professional wrestler and retired professional mixed martial artist. He is a former two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion who is best known for defeating Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos. As of April 19, 2017, he is the second ranked heavyweight in the UFC official rankings. As an expert wrestler, he has vied for the Mexican promotion AAA and is right now signed to WWE.
Cain Velasquez Bio: Parents, Early Life, Nationality, Education
Cain Ramirez Velasquez was born to Efrain and Isabel Velasquez in Salinas, California. He was raised in Yuma, Arizona. His father was an undocumented immigrant from Sinaloa, Mexico while his mother grew up in Fresno, California. Efrain moved to the U.S. from Mexico where she met American-born Isabel. They developed a relationship and later got married, which provided Efrain with the privilege of attaining U.S. citizenship. Cain Velasquez has three siblings namely Efrain Jr., Adela and Cain. He attended Kofa High School for four years, during which he accumulated 100 victories in 110 wrestling matches and won the 5A Arizona Wrestling Championship twice.
Cain was also a football player, who played football as a linebacker for three years. Being a senior, he doubly served as the captain of both his wrestling team and tackling football team. After completing high school, he went to Iowa Central Community College where he won NJCAA National Championship in the heavyweight (285 lb.) category. Thereafter, he obtained transfer to Arizona State University (ASU). Velasquez wrestled for the Sun Devils where he garnered 86 wins from 103 fights which placed him 4th and 5th in the country in 2005 and 2006 respectively. While at ASU, he met Ryan Bader and C.B. After graduating from college, Cain Velasquez joined American kickboxing Academy so as to participate in MMA fights professionally. As an NCAA Division 1 Wrestler, he has a brown belt in Guerilla Jiu-jitsu and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Velasquez made his MMA debut on October 6, 2007 at Strikeforce: Tank vs Buentello against Fujarczyk which he won by TKO in the first round. He earned another TKO win in the first round at the 4th minute mark in his next fight with the then-undefeated Jeremiah Constant at Bodofight: St. Petersburg. Along the line he defeated several high caliber players which made him become a force to reckon with. When he knocks his opponent down during a fight, he often uses grappling skills to maintain a dominant position while he lands continuous strike from above. All of his victories have either come from strikes from punches or by unanimous decision. He was nicknamed “Cardio Cain” for his cardiovascular training that gives him tremendous endurance that allows him to continually fight bullishly even when his opponents have become obviously exhausted.

They eventually tied the knot on May 28, 2011, in Tempe, Arizona. In 2018, they gave birth to their second child, a son. Presently, he happily lives with his wife and family.
