Arthur Agee is an American basketball player, actor and entrepreneur. His full name is Arthur “Man” Agee Jr. He was born on October 22, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1994, Kartemquin Films documentary called “Hoop Dreams” chronicled the lives of high school basketball players. Agee was one of two Chicago-area high school basketball players to be in the documentary. Born as the second child of Arthur “Bo” Agee Sr. and Sheila Agee, he lived his early days on the north side of the Chicago area. William Gates too lived near him, the other star whose life was highlighted in “Hoop Dreams.” It was nominated for Oscars in 1994.

Arthur graduated from grammar school in 1987. Earl Smith, talent scout, noticed his talent as a basketball player and convinced Agees to send Arthur Agee to a private High School called St. Joseph’s High School. With the gained opportunity, in the fall of 1987, he started his freshman year at the St. Joseph. But, due to economic problems his parents were unable to pay the required tuition fee at St. Joseph and Arthur started going to John Marshall High School where he played at Arkansas State University on a scholarship During his senior year at John Marshall, he helped the Marshall Commandos win the 1991 Public League Championship and finish third in the State Championship.
After graduation from Marshall, Agee started going to Mineral Area College. He played for two years at Arkansas State on a scholarship.

Arthur became a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. Although Agee played at a Division I school, He was eager to achieve his dream of playing in the National Basketball Association. In order to take a role in the film Passing Glory, Agee turned down a contract with the CBA’s Connecticut Pride in 1996. After that, he was able to take a role in the film Passing Glory. Agee gave up on basketball in 1997. However, he never stopped working on something because he has five childrens. So, he became an entrepreneur and launched a ‘Hoop Dreams’ clothing line with the slogan “Control Your Destiny” in 2004. As he has starred in the documentary “Hoop Dreams”, the title for his clothing line gained him some fame. He starred in the movie “Passing Glory.” But, the movie wasn’t a huge success.
With the hopes to “help underprivileged kids to understand that their role models are not professional athletes, but their parents”, Arthur started the Arthur Agee Role Model Foundation. This shows how good of a person he is with a helpful heart. This helped many growing childrens to look up for the role model in their life.

Arthue was arrested on november 19, 2017 for punching a woman in west suburban Forest Park. He was held on $30,000 bail after being charged with aggravated battery for the punching case. However, the charges were later dropped without prosecution. It was reported that the women had 3 fractured ribs.
Arthur “Bo” Agee Sr. Arthur’s father was killed on December 15, 2004. Agee Sr. was attempting to run from a robber. A Chicago man was subsequently charged by Berwyn police, but ultimately acquitted of killing Arthur Agee Sr.
